Material-binding peptide 3 (MBP3)
MBP3 is identified from a combinatorial phage display peptide library, which makes it possible to use a biomimetic method for ecologically friendly nano Ag production, including hybrid material synthesis systems[1]. The surface display of MBP3 realized the adsorption and recycling of Ag ions in the waste water.

IGEM_XJTLU 2022 tested the function of MBP3 by the surface display on E.coli. Following results showed the adsorption of Ag(I) by modified E.coli and Mg1655 (control).

Figure1. In different concentrations of AgNO3 solution, modified E.coli that express MBP3 adsorbed more Ag(I) than Mg1655 pGEX-4T-1, which is the control group.

We used ICP-MS to measure the unbinding Ag(I) in the supernatant, for detailed information about our measurement method and result analysis, please visit our Experimentsand Resultson wiki.
